North Barnsley Partnership is an organisation that is here to help regenerate the economies of the communities of Royston, Carlton, Monk Bretton, Athersley, Cudworth, West Green and Shafton.

The area has been allocated special funding from the European Union (called Objective 1, Priority 4b money). This money is for investment in:

Developing workspace
Bringing back derelict and polluted land into economic use
Supporting business development

North Barnsley has been classed as a "community in transition". This means that the community have been given control over where and how this money is spent because it has been recognised that as a community we have already, independently, developed ways of taking steps to pull the local area out of decline.
